Getting Around LIC: Public Transport & Trains

Elevated subway trains in Long Island City at sunset, with tracks curving between industrial buildings and the Manhattan skyline visible in the distance.

Fast Access to Manhattan & Beyond

Living at Lumen means the subway is basically downstairs. The building sits just off Court Square, less than 500 feet from the E, M, G, and 7 trains at the Court Square–23rd Street/Court Square complex—about a two- or three-minute walk depending on which entrance you use. From there, the E and M run straight into Midtown along 53rd Street, putting you within a few stops of hubs like Fifth Avenue/53rd Street and beyond.

The 7 line connects Queens to Manhattan end-to-end, running from Flushing–Main Street all the way to 34 St–Hudson Yards. And if your day takes you to Brooklyn instead, the G train’s Crosstown route links Court Square directly with neighborhoods down to Church Avenue.

A short walk in the other direction brings you to Queensboro Plaza and Queens Plaza, roughly a quarter mile away, where you can pick up the N and W trains at Queensboro Plaza and the R (along with additional E and M service) at Queens Plaza—handy options for getting to Midtown, Astoria, or deeper into Queens without transferring.

Altogether, it’s a rare setup: multiple lines, several major transfer points, and fast access to Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens, all within a few city blocks of our modern new LIC apartment building.
